Prov Blog | Happy Yoga Wales

This month we talk to Paula from Happy Yoga Wales, regular ProvSpace instructor, recovering perfectionist and professional joy bringer.

Meet Paula Roberts, Founder & CEO of Happy Yoga Wales, who teaches all things yoga, including meditation, laughter and face yoga - which is as much fun as it sounds.

“I specialise in teaching beginners because I love seeing how quickly they start to benefit from a few simple habit changes. I recently taught Laughter Yoga to some celebrity beginners on TV in the show Ricky, Sue and a Trip or Two’.

Paula has been a member of the Prov Community since the very beginning, first encountering Providero when we were just a Citroen Van and donating to the Crowd Funder campaign that made it possible to open the doors of Little Prov in Llandudno Junction. Now we love that we get to see Paula popping in and out of the Coffeehouse and ProvSpace studio on a weekly basis.

“I use ProvSpace because it is a stunning venue right in the middle of town. I grew up in Llandudno and I visited the building many times in my youth when it was PoundStretchers!”

First things first, let’s talk coffee.

We wanted to know what Paula’s go-to coffeehouse order would be,

“Americano. Black. No sugar. We also have a bean to cup machine at home and I like to add a little coconut oil to my brew in the mornings.”

We didn’t see the coconut oil addition coming but it’s certainly something we’re going to be trying!

Next we wanted to know if Paula had any hot drink rituals,

“Massively! Each morning, I come downstairs and get the coffee on the go.

While it is brewing, I take some hot lemon with a pinch of salt into the garden and enjoy the morning sunlight. Then, my coffee comes with me for some meditation and yoga before I start the day.”

There’s nothing quite like the first coffee of the day but it does sound even better alongside some yoga.

Onto ProvSpace and Happy Yoga Wales classes.

What’re your thoughts on shared space and community?

“Community is everything!

There is an 86 year-long study which shows that the happiest people are the ones who have strong connections with family and/or friends.

I love how the people in my courses become such good friends. In fact, I said to them recently that walking into a class each week is like walking into an episode of Cheers where everyone knows your name!”

Is there anything exciting in the pipeline for Happy Yoga Wales?

“YES! I am hosting my first weekend retreat - The Happiness Retreat! It is a happiness-packed, nature-based weekend in a stunning spot near Dolwyddelan.

There will be yoga, laughter, dancing, walks in nature, amazing food and even a chance for a deep-tissue massage! I’ve basically just designed a holiday of all the things that make me happy and invited everyone along!”

Lastly, what are a couple things we might not know about you from your classes and joyous content online?

“I’m obsessed with dogs but I am allergic to them! I always joke that I must have done something evil in a previous life and come into this one with a curse!”

We feel this. We get so many adorable four-legged friends visiting the coffeehouse but on a busy day behind the coffee bar, there just isn’t enough time for all of the doggo cuddles.
