Howdy to Hospitality with Ryan

If you’ve been in to either of the coffeehouses in the last 9 months, you’ll have undoubtedly met Ryan, our friendly Floridian barista (if you haven’t, come down and say hello because we’re telling you, he’s the bomb!)

Ryan joined Team Prov in January and we can’t remember a life without him, his trademark quirky shirts and borderline obsession with coffee (spy the coffee shrub tattoo).

As well as seamlessly fitting in to Team Prov and bringing his own flair to the Coffeehouse, Ryan has undertaken a work-based learning Hospitality Level 3 Diploma, run by Coleg Llandrillo, alongside and as part of his work behind the coffeebar.

What does this mean? We’ll let Ryan explain it himself…

“Howdy ya'll my name is Ryan, I’ve been living in North Wales since last November and since May of this year I’ve been taking a Level 3 hospitality supervisor and leadership course at Llandrillo college”

“I’m only a third of the way through but it’s been a real benefit to me and my skills. It’s allowing me to get an insight into a supervisor’s head and consider my roll within the Providero team. I feel I can bring more to the table now that I’ve been working on my leadership skills.”

With Ryan’s course revolving around work-based learning, it means that his study hours include his working hours behind the coffeebar, allowing for hands on learning, “My tutor has been incredibly helpful and patient, as well as the rest of the staff at Llandrillo that I’ve interacted with so far. My goal is to help my team bring you the best service we can and maintain a happy and friendly atmosphere.”

“I feel I can bring more to the table now

that I’ve been working on my leadership skills.”

With hospitality being included as a key growth sector for Conwy County, it’s clear that supporting pathways for development, progression and empowerment to those working in the sector, like Ryan and the rest of Team Prov, is crucial to not only making sure that Providero continues to serve great coffee, provide reliable, friendly service and maintain a warm, communal atmosphere, but also to support our team in whatever their next step is. We’re over the moon to be able to support Ryan and other members of Team Prov through their diplomas and we’re excited to see how it continues to empower them and progress their skills!

Want to chat about it? Next time you’re stopping by either of the coffeehouses, feel free to say howdy to Ryan and ask him how he’s getting on! We have no doubt he’ll take you up on the conversation, all whilst pouring you the perfect swan latte art.
